Its T's birthday today.
We had her party this past weekend. It was a great success smile

This morning I experienced something that I need to share. It left me feeling very frustrated and upset.
I took the girls to MDF's grandma's today. It's about an hour south of us. On the highway was a woman, driving alone, and CLEARLY not in a state to do so. She was swerving over all three lanes, the speed varied dramatically. It was 10:30am. So either she was too tired to be driving, too drunk to be driving or too upset to be driving. No matter what the cause, this woman needed help. She needed someone to stop her from killing herself. (And no, I'm not being over dramatic, I watched her nearly crash into the SAME 18 wheeler 5 times. One time or 5 different cars and maybe she didn't see it/them. I wish I was lying or exaggerating. I didn't feel the impending doom I felt with this woman with the sports car that played frogger among the cars to maintain their 100MPH speed. Watching this woman I really felt like I was watching someone TRYING to die.)
I called 9-1-1. Because we were on the interstate they transferred me to the state police. Then we exited the highway. I followed at an extremely cautious and safe distance so that I could get her the help she needed by directing police to her location. The state police told me that once she left the highway it was out of their jurisdiction. The dispatcher who sounded like she gave a shit suddenly didn't. And it took me ASKING HER for her to transfer me to the local police. By the time the whole thing was explained and they asked where we were now, we weren't in that town anymore. So they said they'd pass the info on to the next town.
I'm so upset. With both girls in the car I'm not in a position to try to get this woman to pull over myself. She CLEARLY needs help. I've done all that I can and everyone else is content to say "Och, not MY problem" once she crosses some arbitrary invisible fucking line? And by the time I can explain to the next person who's problem it just became it's no longer their problem because we've crossed another fucking line?
She ran a red light, so I lost her.
I don't know if she's ok. I will never know if she succeeded in killing herself or not.

that is crazy shit. hopefully she's okay. at least you know that you tried to help. that police action (or inaction i guess) would have pissed me off and i'd have raised hell with them. however, i am also single with no dependents or major responsibilities besides paying bills so i dont give a shit.
