You can sign up to do a ride-a-long through your local PD. It was free. i just went in filled out a request form and they did a background check on me to make sure i wasn' nuts or anything. Then i made an appointment with the dude and bam....fun night.

I understand how headaches go, I was in a killer car accident in 2000, my whole face was smashed, they drilled 32 screws through my skull and put in lots of titanium plate work. It hurts like hell all the time now. Slowly I have learned to deal with it, I have not taken pain meds in 2 years. I feel very good about that.
It is a tough thing to understand, there are so many different causes it is hard to pinpoint just one.
