tonight was the medallion ceremony at my school. it's a huge honor -- one to four students are chosen from each department as the best, brightest, most talented, and natural leaders out of all the students. i was the only one honored with the drama medallion and it made me so happy to hear my teacher (and friend) up there describing my contribution to the department and her faith in my ability to do anything i can in the writing, theatrical, and educational field. even my ap english teacher honored me in the program and talked of how i was one of the few students who understood writing and connected it to reality and how i am able to "truly translate the human condition, as all great writers strive to do." now, that part was great. however, the night was yet again ruined by my drug addict mother. i love my dad, and was excited that he'd get to hear these teachers whom i so respect talk about my achievements and i thought, if nothing else, my dad would be proud. then my mom stepped in and decided that she needed to go to the hospital for one insignificant reason or another and threw a fit until my dad took her. neither of them have even said as much as congratulations. talk about cutting deep.

i tried to take a picture so i could attach it to the entry, but my phone is acting up and the camera isn't working correctly. :/ just another thing to tack onto the bad news.

i hope you all had a much better night than i did.
