I layed on the cold concrete of that church parking lot,
Closing my eyes and there I fought.
Fighting to stay alive,
Hoping to even hear you say my name one last time.
Seconds seemed like an eternity.
My phone rings,
Should have left it that way?
Letting the scythe tear away!

What did I do to deserve this?
Reading through your old letters,
And being pissed.
A second chance,
Having trouble taking a firm stance,
Against the hate that tries so hard,
To devour my being while my heart starves.

A voice calls out,
Pulling me to my feet.
Laying in the seat,
Lifeless with one plea.
"Please take me."
Standing by me all night,
God, what a site.

I could have passed,
And you wouldn't shed a single tear.
Telling me you didn't care.
Now I'm here and standing strong,
Doing better,
Knowing where this path leads,
And it's without you.
Bringing closure,
To something,
And in the end was nothing.
