Heh. Just purchased "Altered Beast" for Sega Genesis. I don't particularly care for the game, but I absolutely love the crappy "Wise fwom you gwave!" sound byte at the beginning. Is that alone worth $2.50? You bet your ass!
As always, I also purchased a couple more Dreamcast games: "Conflict Zone" and "Grand Theft Auto 2". I happened to tell the one girl who waits on me there most of the time that I had over 60 Dreamcast games, and she responded by saying that she didn't even know that there were that many.
Now, c'mon…we're not talking about the freaking Virtual Boy here. I sometimes wonder if she actually plays video games. It's somewhat disheartening to see somebody who is likely completely unfamiliar with video games working at a video game store. The worst part is that I find myself having a bit of a crush on her.
Why? I can't explain. I try to start little conversations with her, but she tends to run herself into a brick wall by coming off as somewhat uneducated in video game matters. For instance, one day, I asked her which of the three upcoming game consoles she was really looking forward to. She actually had to think about it for a second, then copped out and said that the Xbox 360 looked pretty good.
You don't purchase a $399.99 (?) game console because it looks "pretty good". Seriously, why is she even working there? She certainly doesn't even seem to fit in with the other associates from a personality standpoint, as she almosts seems to be the type who conforms to the ways of others to fit in, yet still retains her own ideals and such. I find it odd that I could be interested in somebody like that.
I absolutely refuse to act to impress anyone; I enjoy being "weird", thank you. After all, things can get pretty fucking boring if everyone acts the same.
Perhaps that's why I never bother taking the next step to find out whether or not she's actually available. *shrug*
Then again, there is another girl who works there who I also happen to have a crush on (girls + video games = <3), so it's all good. Honestly, this other girl would likely be more my type, as she almost seems like the SG type. Sadly, I see her much less than the first girl that I mentioned, and I know even less about her. Why must I be such a shy bastard?
