Yay! I believe that I've finally completed my ideal gaming setup. Well, the physical part of it, anyway. I just hooked up my alternate computer and Dreamcast to the same monitor via a KVM switch. No, I don't yet have my Dreamcast's Internet connection up. However, I feel that I'm close.
Getting the KVM switch setup to work was a bit of a bitch. I definitely didn't think things through when I was deciding on which KVM switch to buy. The KVM switch that I purchased is USB-powered, which wouldn't be a big deal were it not for the fact that the Dreamcast doesn't have USB ports. Fuck.
Furthermore, this particular KVM switch only supports USB keyboards/mice; PS/2 is - unfortunately - not an option. (I fucking hate USB.) Thankfully, I don't really need the keyboard or mouse to operate my Dreamcast (nor would they work without a separate adapter).
I finally got the blasted thing to work by connecting both ends' built-in USB cables to the computer (which only has two USB ports - whew!), then keeping the keyboard/mouse setup as is by not bothering to attempt connection either through the KVM switch.
Works like a charm.
Anyway, it sucked going back to work today after that wonderful weekend. And my fucking left leg was killing me. Why in God's name couldn't it be sore yesterday? Oh, and the top of my head has a pretty nasty case of sunburn.
Gahand I can't wait until I start peeling. It'll look like a really bad case of dandruff.
