You know, if there's one thing that I'll miss when I'm finally out of retail for good, I'd say that it'd hafta be the feeling that I get from helping a lot of people in a small amount of time. No, I'm not gonna get all mushy and write a two-page essay on just why I enjoy helping people, but allow me a single paragraph…
Like most retail workers, I have my share of shitty days, but thoroughly helping a customer/guest (even when going against accepted company procedures) certainly makes my day. I realize that most consumers are assholes, but I also realize that I know a lot more than they do most of the time, so I suppose it's little more than a boost to my own feeling of self-worth.
In other words, I had a pretty good day today.
