Holy shit. I think I finally found a Linux distro that I like. It's called Ubuntu, and it's probably the nicest-looking, smoothest-running distro of Linux that I've dealt with thus far (well, of the ones that I successfully installed, anyway). Goodbye, Windows!

I've been messing around with installations of both Linspire and Xandros lately, and it's certainly nice to see that Linux typically offers much more "out of the box". I think I'll give Gentoo one more try. I'll use a different set of instructions this time, though.

I had a bit of a fall at work today. Six feet onto a hard cement floor. Oddly, I wasn't hurt at all. I think I'll check for bruises in a bit, though. Just for the sake of curiosity, you know.

I took the easy way out by installing Xandros, and it seems to be working quite well. It'll definitely take me a while to get used to the user interface. Thankfully, my Web browsing won't be hampered at all.

Well, here I am with Windows 2000 Professional installed on my computer once again. Strangely, though, I don't really feel like using Windows. I'd really like to try Linux. In any form. Maybe - out of sheer desperation - I'll try Linspire.

Oh my GodGentoo is such a bitch. I'm on my fourth attempt to install this fucker on my computer. Thankfully, it seems to be going a bit more smoothly this time around. Sadly, I said the very same thing every single time that I started from scratch. If it doesn't work this time, I'm fucking installing Windows, instead.

Unfortunately, minor problems with my Gentoo installation resulted in my having to start over from the very beginning. Strangely, though the new instructions that I'm following seem to be far more complex, the process seems to be going far more smoothly. The compile times are taking forever, though.
