Night 4 - The Driller Killer (1979)

How do I describe the driller killer hahaha it's LOAD!!!!!!!!!!, the first image on screen says this film must be played load and it definitely is, Reno is an artist trying to finish his latest painting the stress of this and his rising debts push him over the edge and he begins running around New York at night murdering homeless people with a power drill, it's probably most infamous for the graphic image on the packaging of the video cassette of a man's head being drilled into and that's probably the reason it got banned there was no Internet back then so first impressions were created by the artwork on the box and it was a great way to sell the movie, I really like the dirty grainy analogue quality of the picture and I like how it adds to the sleazy and gritty atmosphere you can see the image break up's and hear the static of the audio and that's sadly something missing on modern clean HD digital recordings as it really adds to the nastiness of these old grindhouse movies, it's hard to watch because of how harsh the audio, picture and editing are but you can definitely see where movies like Henry and Maniac got their inspiration from
