I'm really bothered by our society's image of what beauty is. I don't feel like MySpace is the place to voice my concern (or rant), so I'm throwing it up here. This is the perfect forum for this.
OK. I was on SG a while back with my friend, Kristin. Her friend, Shane, was also with us. We were looking at all the photo sets and girls that we liked. One after another, Shane found problems with each of them. When asked who he found beautiful, he mentioned someone in Playboy.
Yep, Playboy. A company who has done very little to help the self esteem of young women in this country or any other, for that matter. 50 years ago, they had full figured women in the magazine. Nowdays its full of women who have had multiple plastic surgeries, breast implants, and are photoshopped to look very different than they normally do. That portrays a very unrealistic image of beauty.
Alright, back to Shane. After he said this, he showed me a picture of this woman. Her name is Kylie Bax. I just kind of looked at him and asked, "You think that's hot? She's photoshopped to look that way." He responded, "Yeah, she's still hot though."
Sometimes I like to think of women in Playboy as a lot like cartoons. Someone can draw the "perfect woman" on a sheet of paper, but editors at Playboy can do the same. They can these models and make them seem far more attractive than they really are.
So again, what's that do? It makes it a lot of guys very shallow. I give the members of this site props. If you joined this site and you're a man, you obviously have a good eye for what beauty is. It's truly in the eye of the beholder.
But what if the beholder has looked at these plastic women since he was in high school? Sure there's cute girls at school and everything, but subconciously the male thinks the Playboy women are still way hotter. This causes guys to settle for women who aren't like the ones in the magazines and they don't end up seeing the true beauty that's right there in front of them.
Every woman is beautiful. There's no such thing as the most beautiful woman in the world. To say that would defeat diversity, because all women should look like one person. Everyone is different physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally.
I just don't think magazines like Playboy perpetuate in image of diversity in thier publications and that's not right. Diversity doesn't mean having black women in their magazines sometimes or having an Asian woman as Playmate of the Month.
SuicideGirls is THE website that perpetuates a positive image of beauty. There are models of all different shapes, sizes, colors...whatever.
Every model on this site should feel proud of who they are and what they look like. You are all doing a great thing by posing on this site. I don't mean to sound corny, but that's just how I feel.

I actually recieved a solicitation from Playboy in the mail the other day. Very depressing. I asked BBKF if we wanted to join up, since it was just a $1 an issue. We both laughed and then threw the junk mail into the trask. The models and women here at SG are so much fucking better than anything in the mainstream media, and I am glad I found my way to this site.
