I have an Athlon 64 3200+, ASUS K8V Deluxe Motherboard, 1 Gig Ram, an ATI 9600 Pro, 180 GB on 2 Hard Drives, a CDR and and a CD.
With all that in a 24 inch Full Tower case, I use a 550 watt power supply. What ever the power supply you buy is rated at, it can't run that much power 24/7, trust me on that.
As it is I run Far Cry, BFV, UT 2K4 and Halo all at 1600 x 1200 (Max res of my 19 inch monitor) now with full graphic detail and textures!!! I will be running Half Life 2, and DOOM 3 at high res too, when ever the hell the get released...
I am waiting for the new PCI-X motherboards and matching Vid Cards before I upgrade later this year.
I am a mostly reformed computer geek; I have been in the Computer industry since the original IBM XTs, and the 128k Mac...
P.S. if you go to an unbiased Computer Web Site, you will see that the new ATI Vid Cards are as fast or even faster than the NVidias. Consider cost too, as both are faster than the available software.
