Sad Goodbyes

As some of you may have seen or know already, two days ago I had to put one of my dogs to sleep.

Buffy was fighting a losing battle with cancer and had a big tumor removed from her mouth a little over 8 months ago.

There's a special bond one shares with their pets which I'm sure you've all experienced and can understand how rough the last few days have been.

I spent last night sleeping on the floor while the male dog cried and barked at being unable to find his girlfriend who he has never been separated from. Hearing his little howls just breaks my heart.

Does anyone know of any ways to help a dog into getting passed a death and helping them through a difficult time such as this?

I'm so so sorry <3 I recently lost one of my kitties so I know how terrible you feel. Give yourself and your other puppy some time.

I am so sorry for your loss. Last year I had to cross two of my dogs - one was 16 and had just had a debilitating stroke, and the other was diagnosed with bone cancer. I am pretty sure that my other pup was just as heartbroken as I was. Losing both of her doggie companions in less than three months could not have been easy. I did end up adopting another dog shortly afterwards, because my girl was very lonely. He has done a lot to help us heal.
