The "little" things
A long time ago there was a very poor family, mother, father and two children: boy and girl. They were happy and loved each other very much. Daddy worked very hard at the stables of a mansion for not much money, but he was honest and hardworking, and was proud to be able to bring food to his family. One day he brought his children to work because Mommy had somewhere to be. The children went to play at the back of the stables so they wouldn't disturb daddy while working, and found a little mouse. They started playing with it and eventually became friends, the mouse was happy to play with the kids and this made them happy too. They spent the whole day playing together, mouse, boy and girl. About half an hour before it was time to go home, the lady of the mansion came to the stables and saw the kids playing with a mouse, and felt disgusted. "Mr, how can you let your children play with a mouse?! It's revolting, unsettling and socially unacceptable! I demand you kill that dirty beast at once!" Despite Daddy was against killing animals unless it was for food or in self defense, he felt obliged to obey. He slowly walked towards his daughter, who held her little, warm furry friend to protect it, and saw her begging with his teary eyes to spare it's life, so he stopped walking. "Didn't you hear, servant? I gave you and order" said the lady, but he didn't move. "Are you willing to risk your petty job? You don't look like you can afford that, servant" viscously spat the irritated woman. Slowly and with his head held proudly up Daddy answer "There's not enough money in the world worthy of making my children cry, the same way nothing is more valuable than their smile." The boy and girl smiled widely and man, children and mouse walked out of there feeling richer than the astonished lady they left behind.
