Yesterday I became cheerier when Tegan and I drove to Mansfield and went shopping. We originally made the trip so she could find some shoes, preferably some Converse. We went to TJ Max and she immediately spotted a pair of low-top navy blue suede All-Stars. But they were too big for her, so I tried them on and fell in-love. But since I already have a pair of navy blue Chucks, I decided to go with the maroon pair. I also bought a red and white striped sweater. Tegan bought a picture frame. Then we went to Target and went on another Tegan shoe search, but alas, no dice. So I bought some wooly black legwarmers (that I adore) and a new beanie with matching gloves. She bought $3 worth of gum. Then we went to Gabriel Brothers. No shoes there either, but Tegan got a kickass red coat and she bought me a pair of jeans as a very belated birthday present. And so here is a small showcase of the items I bought yesterday, minus the shoes and pants. If you want to see more of this ensemble, you can.
Now, to tell you about my freak shoe. So today I put on my Converse and I noticed a funny defect. The right shoe has (and this is hard to describe so bear with me) too much material on one side of the shoe. You can tell when the laced are all laced up and the shoe is tied. So when I'm wearing them it looks like my right foot is curving inward. And it's weird. But my dad, the Converse expert, said it's because they were probably handmade. He said that his Converse always had defects in them back in the day, and he told me not to worry about it. But of course I will because I am an ass like that.
I've noticed that some of the SGs have spiffy new posting pictures. Like Siv up there.
I have my hands in the air, both arms shot straight up, my body stretching to aid the cause. And I'm anxiously awaiting your attention, exasperated by your ability to ignore my heavy sighs of frustration. I'm wondering how long I'm going to sit here. Days, maybe even weeks. I don't want to be surprised by your sudden urge to ask me what the matter is. But in the meantime, I'll just sit here with both of my hands in the air.
I have homework to do but I am oh so apathetic.
I went and saw Saw (haha, two "saws" right next to each other) Friday night with a new friend of mine. It was, ehh, pretty scary but mostly dumb. I laughed through the majority of it. My initial reaction to evil is laughter. I laugh everytime I watch American Psycho and A Clockwork Orange. Is there something wrong with me?
Speaking of American Psycho, a year ago today I began reading that book. It is, oddly enough, my favorite book of all the books I've ever read.
Tomorrow will mark the seven-year anniversary of Michael Hutchence's passing. For those of you who don't know, Michael Hutchence was the frontman to the Australian rock band INXS for twenty years. The band had only a handful of hit albums including "Listen Like Thieves," "Kick," and "X," but they released many more albums with Michael and toured at a relentless pace constantly. Michael took his life in a Sydney hotel room seven years ago and now INXS is pretty much silenced and pushed completely out of the limelight, though they do continue to make music and have experimented with a few lead singers. But no one can replace Michael. In my opinion, he was one of the greatest rock frontmen to ever grace the stage, and he is significantly underrated. I have been a Michael and INXS fan for several years of my life and I have always paid respect to Michael on his day of passing. He was a truly beautiful and talented man and when I think about the circumstances of his death it makes me very, very sad. But anyway. I will continue to spread the joy of INXS and the gift Michael gave us, which was an abundance of great music, and I won't mourn his passing in that sort of grievey way, but rather celebrate his life.
