The more things change, the more they stay the same.

My three-day weekend was action-packed, and I neglected to reflect upon it in my last journal. So here you go.

On Saturday, I went to Columbus with Kevin and Charlotte, or Sara (a different Sara than the one I usually speak of). We went thrift shopping, ate pizza, and had a general good time. I wanted to see the band Kopaz play at this place called The Basement. So, around 8:00, we parked Sara's car and walked about four blocks to the venue. It is literally the basement of a bar, for those who don't know. It was fucking FREEZING outside, and I was not dressed properly for the temperature. Needless to say, I could not feel any part of my body. But alas, eventually we got inside The Basement, and it was warm and nice and I was excited. However, Kevin and Sara were antsy to go to a club, and they didn't really feel like seeing the band... it didn't help matters much that Kopaz played last out of four bands, and Kevin and Sara wanted to be home by midnight. So we stuck around for the first band. They were okay. I took the opportunity to take some nifty photographs. But then we left to go to a club with plans to come back in time for Kopaz's set. It's a good thing we left because this very shady individual who was most likely on some high dosage of a psychoactive drug kept lingering around us. He was creeping me out, what with his pretending to jump off the rails and instable body movements. He got kicked out of the place, but when we left, he was waiting outside the door to get back in, so Kevin went inside and told the ticket-taker person. We were all pretty worried because he looked like he might be concealing some type of weapon.

So, we went on a search for a club, but by the time we found one, it was almost time to see Kopaz. Plus, we couldn't get into any of the clubs on that particular night for age reasons. So, we headed back to The Basement, but Kopaz was already into their set, and I only got to see them play one song because Sara wanted to go home. I did manage to take some pictures, but as Kevin and I were leaving, we were in such a rush dashing across the busy streets that I dropped my lens cap for my camera and was unable to recover it. frown

Then on Sunday I went to Jessica's birthday party with Matthew. It was sub-par, as stated previously. I took Matthew home early, and I left shortly after.

On Monday, Jessica, Matthew and I went to Mansfield so Jess and I could obtain some lovely tattoos on our flesh. We got a late start. We stopped at Arby's so Jessica could nourish herself before getting ink imbedded. We weren't quite sure of the tattoo parlor's exact whereabouts, so I had Jessica and Matthew keep an eye on the business/house numbers as I drove slowly. But, it wasn't easy because it was on one of the city's busiest (and longest) streets, and I was in an unfamiliar end of town. We realized at the last minute that we must've passed the tattoo place, so I quickly looked for a place to turn around. I was in the left lane, and I made a quick dash right without thoroughly examining my mirrors. However, I didn't see anyone in the right lane, so I went for it. Then all of a sudden, I felt something crash into my car, and sure enough, another car hit me. I did an improper lane change. I caused an accident. Fucking A.

So it ended up being this kid and his girlfriend. They were OK to me, but I think I handled the whole thing surprisingly well, and I was very calm and collected. After all, no one was injured and my car was just dented up a bit (it already has a dent from a previous fender bender). I was questioned and told I would receive a ticket, so I got back in my car and waited for everything to be said and done. Pretty soon, the fire department and ambulance came to the scene of the accident! I couldn't believe it. Apparently, the guy driving the other car said that his neck hurt (even though I heard him make the car to the police, and he reported no injuries). So, he was feigning an injury to squeeze money out of my poor 1986-Cougar-driving-ass! I was pissed, but I didn't worry too much because the police officer didn't seem concerned, and in a matter of minutes, the damn kid (with his severely injured neck!) drove away with his girlfriend. Asshole. I paid my ticket yesterday. It was $95. Ouch. Also, I'm afraid my insurance will increase, and as a result of the accident (and my vulnerability to car collisions for some odd reason), I am not allowed to drive out of town anymore, according to my dad. So that really blows. But hopefully that's the worst of it.

After all that, I was determined to get my tattoo and get our asses back home. I had an elaborate tattoo design planned out: a Christmas card design by Andy Warhol featuring several birds of various colors that formed a star. I found it while looking at book in art class last week and I fell in-love. However, the artist discouraged me from getting the design any smaller (as I had wanted to do), and at the size it was, it was going to cost over $150 and take over two hours to complete. I didn't think that sounded like much fun at the time, so I settled on some INXS lyric-age on my left shoulder blade. It says: "Falling down the mountain, end up kissing dirt, look a little closer, sometimes it wouldn't hurt." I think I like having lyric tattoos. It suites me well. Jessica got a feminism symbol fist thingy on her forearm. It is nice as well.

Here is a picture of my back sort of, but it's a little difficult to make the wordage out. It's still scabby and sore and such.

So now I'm off. My back hurts. I did a three hour charcoal drawing of Richey from Manic Street Preachers tonight, and now I feel dead. That reminds me. Sometime I should share some pictures of my drawings. They aren't spectacular, but they're entertaining nonetheless. G'night.
