I didn't name call. I do everything i can to not include name calling in a discussion because that does two things. 1. it lowers the intelligent discourse in the conversation and 2. It brings emotion into the discussion, and emotion, from a technical stand point is illogical.

I said his comparison was ludicrous. I didn't say he was ludicrous.

The guy tried to run, but the doorman of the bar I was at liked bikes and had chatted with me on my way in - the bike was parked right across the street from where he was sitting and he saw me pull up. He saw the douchenozzle hit it and ran across the street and stood in front of the guy's car until I got out there. Three other witnesses stopped and gave me their contact info, which was instrumental in getting his insurance company to pay. Needless to say, the doorman got a big tip and hearty thanks. The help from strangers went a long way towards restoring my faith in humanity somewhat.

The kicker is, I had just gotten back from a west coast trip where I found out my cop car had been hit while parked in storage - no note, no nothing, easily 700 bucks in damage - and previously my brand-new truck had been hit while parked in Philly in 2006 and my showroom, cherry condition restored Civic SI was hit while parked in Costa Mesa the first week I was in California in 2005. The Ducati was the only thing I owned that hadn't gotten smashed while parked, something that I noted earlier that day. That's why I was so.fucking.pissed. when it happened, and the guy who did it was so incredibly clueless and not particularly apologetic.

The funniest part was when he tried to offer me a couple of hundred bucks for the damage and I reeled off the part and labor costs for just what I saw at the time, broken bit by broken bit, down to the dollar with exact accuracy. Once the total crossed $5,000 and kept climbing he blanched visibly. I told him "I hope you have excellent insurance; you're going to need it."
