Rebecca and I were talking about the future last night, about maybe moving in together, maybe not, what would here parents do, etc.. it got late, and she was stressed out and kindof freaking. So she left to go home, and a few seconds later there's a knock on the door. She comes back in crying, and her car got broken into in the street outside my house. The assholes knocked out the rear driver's side window and went through her glove compartment.
They didn't take anything that we can tell, because there wasn't anything valuable in there. The bastards even knocked out the tiny little triangular window on the rear driver's side, just for fucking kicks I guess. Fuckers. Her backseat was full of glass, and she was so upset. I'm just glad she's okay, and that she hadn't left her purse in there. I'd known that this can sometimes be a rough neighborhood, and I'd been reminding her to take her purse inside instead of leaving it in the car. I'd thought that if there was no purse visible, no one would bother breaking in... but I guess her windows are tinted enough that in the dark you can't see if there's anything in there or not.
She filed a police report so she can maybe use her insurance... I dunno. The whole thing just sucks. She was parked in the spot under the old tree that overhangs the street, in front of the vacant lot next to our house. That spot is cursed. It's the same spot where my truck was parked when someone (probably the same people) stole my license plate. I guess it's dark enough and just out of sight enough from our house for it to be inviting for a fucking rat bastard thief.
So don't park there if you come over to my house at night anymore, people! I'm going to start parking my truck in the driveway behind Matt's car instead of in the street. I'm debating whether to start leaving our windows open and a light and/or the TV on all night. I'm just really sad for her.. seemed really traumatizing. I drove her car home, and Matt followed me with her in his car.. I hope she's okay, I haven't talked to her today.
Matt took a few pictures, we'll post them later.
