Dear Oklahoma weather,

Should I set my thermostat to heating or cooling? I don't appreciate your "flip-flops" on this crucial issue. My feet deserve to know where you stand.

Thanks,
Keith

I have a party/BBQ thing I have to be at around 2 so maybe we can play later tonight. In the meantime you can always hit up Phoebus for a game.

Hey Keith,

I'll have to take you up on that offer sometime. smile

I personally play either the Space Marines or the Chaos guys. I'm leaning toward the "World Eaters" right now... something about a band of psychopaths maxed out on flamethrowers, on assault stance/combat mode with the "berserk" skill on.

"Skulls for the Skull Throne"? That is a little disturbing.

Good game, though. I hope people crank out some mods for it.

Listening to Brian Wilsons' finally finished Smile. Incredible. The Schubert of the 20th century. No one holds a candle to Mr. Wilson when it comes to pop melody.

I feel a certain affinity with Wilson. Here you have this guy who is essentially childlike, in the best way. And the world destroyed him, but it didn't take away his essential purity. I've felt like...

You ever just have a feeling?

I was sitting here at work, about 2:15AM, and I had the feeling that I heard my wife saying, "Keith. Keith. Keith. Keith." over and over again. Not in a panicked voice, but like she was trying to wake me up.

So I called her. I asked if I'd woken her up, and she said "No, I just woke...

Some quotes from one of the great Americans, Mark Twain:
---------------------------------------------------

Patriotism is supporting your country all the time and your government when it deserves it.

Patriotism is usually the refuge of the scoundrel. He is the man who talks the loudest.
- Education and Citizenship speech, 5/14/1908

Patriot: the person who can holler the loudest without knowing what he is hollering about.

"It is told of [Marius], that having at one time given the freedom of the city to one thousand men of Camerinum who had behaved valiantly in this war, and this seeming to be illegally done, upon some one or other calling him to an account for it, he answered, that the law spoke too softly to be heard in such a noise of war."...

Great quote... reminds me that I should get a new copy of The Noble Lives once I build up a book fund to raid.

Why can't there be candidates a bit more inclined toward the likes of Marcus Aurelius?

Hey there..

Where'd the Michael Moore quote come from? Or did you write that?

Also: I love your ferret pics!!! They're like mini bears! smile

I'm not familiar with it, although I've read a lot of the source material. My undergraduate thesis was actually on the development of the concept of individual liberties from Hobbes through Mill. My conceit was essentially that its was possible to arrive at Mill's conclusions about the primacy of liberty without resorting to utilitarianism. In retrospect, what it mostly was, was an explication of a lot of the unstated assumptions that led to the development of the Bill of Rights, but I was a bit less sophisticated and bit too taken with my own cleverness at the time.

I've never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure.
