top 5 favorite bands!

A topic in the TOP FIVES GROUP was started about our top 5 favorite musical artists of all time, and I love talking about this so I decided to also publish it as a blog :)

Picking a top 5 is really hard for me, not only because I go through phases but also because there are so many bands that hold so many memories for me, that I would consider them my favorites too.

But currently in my life.....

1) OTEP

Otep Shamaya has been a big influence on me since middle school. She's such a talented poet and her band's music about politics and rebelling is so unique, never heard another metal band quite like them <3

2) Marilyn Manson/Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids

Growing up everyone thought I was a little weirdo kid for listening to Manson, but he's seriously so talented, and if you actually take the time to learn about him he's a really incredible person. I actually wrote a report on him in college, haha.

3) In This Moment

ITM is another band that goes pretty far back with me, I remember when Beautiful Tragedy (their debut album) was released and as soon as I heard it it was all I could listen to for a week, I painted the album cover, I would write "next life" on my knuckles lol, I was pretty obsessed. Not as scarily obsessed with them anymore but they definitely haven't left my life <3

4) The Black Keys

I only first heard The Black Keys about 2 years ago I think but right away I fell in love. They're seriously incapable of making a bad song, and it's impossible to feel bad while listening to them. Such a unique, fun sound

5) Jack Off Jill

JOJ is a very old-school riot band from the 80s/90s, they aren't together anymore (</3) but their music still exists in my everyday life. You guys will never understand how much it hurts that I'll never get to see them live :(

Love a lot of the old Spooky Kids demos like Refrigerator (with the "Come Together" intro to "My Monkey) and Grist-o-line.  The first album is definitely my favorite.  It was life-changing, being 10 years old and hearing it for the first time. My stepdad must've taken that album away from me 10 times, and each time I just bought another copy. By the tenth time, he just gave up! I remember reading Marilyn Manson's description of Gidget Gein in his book, when I was in jr. high. Think it was something to the effect of: "He's the kind of guy who will ask to use your bathroom and then swab your toothbrush on his asshole before putting it neatly back into place." That was my takeaway point from the book. After that, I became a lot more perceptive about my toothbrush and toiletry items when strangers would use my bathroom. Lol.

If I had to make a top fives groups : Marilyn Manson at the first place! The music, the lyrics, personnality of MM, his critics on religion, politics, capitalism...I totally agree with him and I think he's one of the best artists of all times, I saw him twice here in France, what beautiful memories, the all crowd screaming and clapping hands at the start of the song "Antichrist superstar"... Ah long life to MM!!!                                                                          To continue the top fives : Rammstein, Deathstars, Motionless in White and Eminem, he's not a group but I don't care he's a master^^
