I surprise myself with how much meaning I put into the transition into a new year. Its apperently very important to me, I think it might be the most important festivity for me emotionally.
Its not that I specificly admire the almanac system or something, but I guess its just a really good time to look back at life that has been and sum up some hopes and expectations for life that will be.
This year I found it hard to sleep a few nights before New Years and lay awake crying hysterically instead. My poor bedmate asked me what was wrong and I told him I really hate my job and dont want to go back. This is a fact that I allready knew, but its something about this time of year that made me feel it so much stronger. It was like my entire being protested.
For me the time of passing into a new year is a time to be absolutely honest with myself and sort out any unfinished business. Its really bad to enter a new year with habits (work, school, relationships...) that you dont really like. Its like a cleansing to me, where I have to change those things that Im not happy about and try to see what I want my life to be like. Its really strong and emotional.
On New Years Eve theres an almost magical feeling in the air to me. By then I have made some desicions and are all set on keeping them. I have the feeling that life is so very real and have to be lived true. Its a very good feeling, a very good way to start the new year.
Anyone feel the same?
