I wish everyone who smokes cigarettes would trade that habit for an old fashioned pipe. Its such a more pleasant smell. People with pipes always seem to be more contemplative, too. They seem to be wiser, more pensive, more interesting people. I'm curious about what they are thinking. When I see someone smoking a cigarette, I assume they are thinking about petty things, like their relationship, their car payment, whether they're going to get that raise. When I see a person smoking a pipe, it inspires intrigue. I wonder "is he thinking about the novel that he's working on?" And then, when you add a headscratch to the steady, expert puffing! He must be reading Praust, or Kafka. Why can't more people be like this?
