I've decided to do something, something terribly important.
There is a project underway called Operation Freefall, and the flat basics is that its a fundraiser for organizations such as SOAR and RAINN to help stop sexual violence, and to offer services to those who have become an unwilling victim to such.
I am supposed to raise at least $600 in order to participate in the event--and because I really, really want to help out. This is important to me. I have pledged at least $1000, that is my goal. My secret, unspoken goal is to more than double that $600 if I can, and to get as much money as possible to these people.
The FBI categorizes rape as the second most violent crime a person can experience, second only to murder. I've been there as a kid, and blasted my life into pieces I've been picking up unto this day. So have a lot of you.
I cant begin to explain how important this is to me.
But I can show you. The crux of Operation Freefall is that you donate, I jump out of a plane (yes, with a parachute). Now the fundraising forms say that I can just raise the money and not do that, but I solomly promise, you pay, and I'll make that jump, no chickening out, no backing down.
And I'll even have the video to prove it.
Now I know a lot of people on my list are as poor as I am, but think about it like this:
If 60 people pay $10--an amount even I can spare--it gets me to the $600 goal. And you have from now until April 28th to do it, because on the 29th, I jump. And if you can't, tell your neighbors, your friends, anyone who might support a cause like this. Pass my link along. Do anything you can, because your friends, sisters, mothers, wives, daughters, and even sons and brotherss all have the right to personal safety, especially from the most intimate of attacks.
