Next big cures: cannibalism and one-child laws
'Over Six-billion people currently inhabit Earth; that's over six-billion delectable morsels ripe for consumption ... for many good causes too.
Cutting Out the “middle man” of editorials I'm going to get straight to the point: I demand the human race begin eating itself.
Global Human consumption would generate no negative effects on the world. Think about it; there's so many people the ratio of supply to-demand of many everyday products has become terrible to the point of outrages prices on everything. Gas consumption in many states exceeds production, driving gas prices to record-breaking levels.
More Importantly, millions of people, 85 percent of which are children five and under, die every year from starvation. The pollutants released into the ozone by human fault causes one-fifth of the world's population to breath air more poisonous than the World Health Organization recommends as healthy.
How Can all of these problems be stifled, stalled or even stopped? By reducing the population or at least reducing the rate by which the population increases so nature can catch up on killing off the human race.
One Possible and morally justifiable way to decrease the population is cannibalism. Talk about killing two birds with one stone. Feeding the poor and malnourished would normally be a fiscal burden to any country. However, people are free and already here. So, feed people other people and Earth has a win-win situation. Starving children get sustenance and the population reduces.
Obviously Cannibalism seems asinine because peoples consciences wouldn't allow for the consumption of other people. However, I believe we can rationalize this policy in three easy steps:
A) Exercise a don't ask - Don't tell policy about where the food comes from.
B) If someone asks, lie. Tell them it's pork; Armin Miewes, the “cannibal of Rottenburg, Germany” said so himself.
C) Serve “expendable” people. Many morally just people should be able to stand eating a convict -- especially one on death row. They're going to die anyway and by eating them we have to pay less taxes for the jails they stay in, the food they eat and the chemicals used to kill them.
No other feasible way get rid of the overpopulation problem comes to mind. Well, nothing just anyway. I can explain away cannibalism as at least a “decently” moral thing to do but I can't convince myself other possible population-growth-stopping-tactics would be moral. Here's a few examples of things less-moral than cannibalism which could save our population.
1. Stop all foreign aid and allow for the slow death via starvation of every person -- children and women included -- who cannot find the money or other means to feed themselves.
2. Encourage nuclear war. (Although, only the cockroaches might survive that one.)
3. Destroy all babies before or upon birth.
4. Finally realize that diseases are mother nature's way of keeping population in check and stop trying to cure them. AIDS is trying to work for us and all people seem to want is to rid Earth of it.
etc...
Basically, the choices aren't very plentiful and -- all but option four -- seem rather evil. However, cannibalism would be quick, painless and as I've stated before, would feed starving kids around the world.
Now, whenever people start eating other people what will be done to keep the population in check? One-child laws come to mind as a great way to regulate ourselves.
China, ahead of us all as they are, has already implemented one-child laws and it's working great ... although, they are commies. However, I'm sure laws such as these could be easily integrated into the democratic ways of the “American dream.”
I know, it's depressing to think, maybe Catholics who don't believe in contraceptives will have to get rid of some offspring but it's for the greater good. Plus, think of even greater positives (as my mind can make the best our of everything, I'll allow you insight) with only one child for each woman, there will be fewer abortions from prostituting, overly-sexually-active teens of our generation.
Also, people who want more children but have already had their one would have to adopt. So, quite possibly after a decade or so homeless children would be a thing of the past.
The population of the world has, in the last 100 years followed a trend of doubling every 40 years. Something must be done to stifle that growth or by the year 2050 there will be a projected 24-billion people inhabiting the earth; a number much larger than what our current food and water supplies could support.
Although one-child laws go against “pursuit of happiness,” I would rather I, my children and my grandchildren all have air not entirely cancerous to breath than any of us be truly blissful.
In closing, to solve the most prevalent problem of our day and age I have given two equally acceptable, utilizable and awesome solutions. Now, I’ll supply a catch phrase: “If you can’t beat ’em, eat ’em!” '
