I'm tired and sweaty from registering people to vote in the hot sun for two hours. I got six.

Here's my newest pet project. I hope it gets off the ground.

Yes, it's a little early to be thinking about Christmas, but if I am ever going to get this off the ground I have to start planning early. Anywho here is my vision:

One day, I was talking to some friends about how many old school punk songs there are about Christmas. Then I began to think, what if you got a bunch of people together, and carroled with them. So that's what I am planning to do. I have enlisted a couple of friends to help out with it, but it is still just in the planning stages.

Location? This one is easy. I will be living in Cambridge, Massachusetts as of September 10th, so it will be somewhere in Boston, probably the Common or in the Pit at Harvard Square.

MO: I am thinking a drummer, bassist, and guitarist for backup. Hopefully, we will rehearse once or twice, and then just set up for maybe an hour or two with risers (sp?) in early December. While part of me just wants to show up, I think I should get a permit. It will just be a pain in the ass because of how machine the Massachusetts government is.

Songs:
-A few harder rocking versions of classic yuletide songs.
-"Oi to the World" by the Vandals. It is simply a mandatory song for something like this
-At least one other Vandals christmas song
-Punk Rock Christmas" by the Ravers. That one speaks for itself really.
-Father Christmas"] by the Kinks. Not strictly punk, but they were an influence.
-"Merry Christmas" by the Ramones. Personally, I think they are overrated but they are one of the founding fathers.
-"Christmas Christmas" by Mojo Nixon. I just really like Mojo Nixon.
-"Holiday in Cambodia" by the Dead Kennedys. It's not strictly a Christmas song, but I think it applies.
-"Homo Christmas" by Pansy Division. This one is just a maybe because it could get the singers arrested for obscenity.
One of the major problems right now seems to be getting enough songs. If anybody else knows some punk, or post punk or grunge or even hip-hop songs that are tongue in cheek and risque, please pass them along.

Those are my thoughts so far. Please give me suggestions, and if you live in the Boston area, tell me if you would come out to sing or even just support. Thank you.

I really hope this gets off the ground I feel it has such potential. Also, I want to collect for one of the local homeless shelters while doing it. It's hard rock with purpose.

Cheers,
Ch

P.S. A bit of conversation between my brother and I.
Ch: So Milo, after I get off on exit 14, what do I do?
Milo: Take a cold shower.

P.P.S. Whoa. I have friends on a blog. It's all so new to me.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm glad you're going for it. Permits are a pain in tha ass but its better then getting in the mix with the cops. Doing battle with the cops isn't much fun in the cold if you're playing outside. BTW, I was just listening to DK's "Holiday in Cambodia" today! smile So, how much do you know about Anarchism, aside from what you've read on Crimethinc. I've never read anything from Crimethinc, as of yet. Did you know there is and Anarchism group? The link is here ====> Anarchism Group

Oh thank you, that is very encouraging to hear. Im still at art college and I nearly never take part in shows because I am too shy, my tutors make put work in the shows at the art college somtimes but I try to avoid it even though I know I have to do that.
