Wow, my friends list has stopped being pictures!
Something serious though:
there is backstory to this, but it isn't mine so I'm not telling it.
Apologies for the vagueness of some of this. I think any girl who has said "Men are assholes" may have a compatable version of the backstory.
Saying "no" is not a priviledge!
I was recently reminded that sometimes people let other people do things for bad reasons. And some people do things to other people for selfish reasons with no regard for the person they are doing it to.
So I want to write something akin to the American Constitution.
We hold these truths to be self evident... Your body is your own and nothing said or done at any time changes this.
There is no moment for which the word "No" should be ignored, there is no 'point of no return'.
"No" does not need a reason!
In my head there is a world of people for whom this is not just an idea, but the very fabric of their moral being. Unfortunately the world outside my head has far less people like that.
My main worry is that my blind assumption that the above is the normal state may have lead me to have done things that someone didn't want, but didn't say so because of previous experiences destroying their belief in the word "No".
I don't want to go on, It will deteriorate into a rant I don't want to have.
I promise a happier journal entry next time!
