Well there's a lot to know about rats..like any pet I guess. It's good that you got them in pairs. Make sure they are the same sex other wise you end up with like 18 in just 21 days If the rats are fairly young then it's hard to tell the sexes apart...until the torpedos drop. Easy way is females have nipples...males don't.
Rats can and will eat anything you eat. So if you're strapped for actual rat food then just give them some of what you're having.

Nice snake. I had a friend who had a Burmese Python for a while. It was really cool when it was little but he didn't keep up with it and didn't handle it so it got kinda skittish.
I had to snake sit for two weeks while he was in Panama on vacation with his girlfriend. It was about 12 foot long at that time and had it's own room in the house. It was eating two large rats at the time. It ended up attacking me and binding my hands together in the cage (which normally would be really erotic) but it's a bit nervewracking when you're like that in a house all by yourself with no one else going to be there for another week or so.
It's a neat story, remind me and I'll tell it to you in full if we ever meet.
