For the Half-Life fans out there...Still my favorite game series of all time.
Got home last night around 9 p.m. after playing F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin at a friend's apartment, only to find the entire neighborhood in a blackout from a windstorm that had hit a few hours before. Nothing but moonlight for blocks and blocks and blocks, which made everything feel ghostly and Romero-like.

It's strange how our failures often make for our most vivid memories.
It's been one of those days. Probably going to be one of those years. Thinking about doors opened and never walked through for one reason or another. Insecurity. Cognitive dissonance. Misplaced loyalties.
Doors not likely to ever open again.
I understand the coldness that's followed. It's probably a reflection of my own and...

try not have regrets. i often live in the past as well...but it only leads to unhappiness. new door will open, but not as long as you are standing in front of the closed and locked ones you choose not to walk through. besides...the new ones might be better.

Called off work yesterday, nauseated and exhausted. Ended up playing a whole lot of Fallout 3 when I finally regained consciousness with the cat curled up on top of me.
Went in this morning still feeling like shit but wanting to put the time in. Overall my mood has been pretty glum lately. Downright depressed. Being sick and having so much downtime probably doesn't help....

Feeling old and tired today. Not to mention damn near arthritic. The streets and sidewalks are still crunchy with ice probably three inches thick in some spots, which doesn't help matters any. I want to go to sleep, but I know I'll just toss and turn.

Woke up this morning to find the entire town covered in ice like Han Solo encased in Carbonite. The trees were pretty with their branches glistening in the streetlights, but getting to the office was an adventure and those low-hanging branches were keeping company in some spots with equally low-hanging powerlines. Cars were sliding on ice and hydroplaning in pockets of slushy soup that stood...

Today was a miserable affair with a few new inches of snow on the ground, streets left untreated because school was canceled and the city fathers are being stingy with their salt supplies and manhours in the face of a flagging economy, and nearly half the office calling off because they either couldn't get to work (long commutes on equally untreated highways) or couldn't get...

I want to punch tom nook most of the time. I am an animal crossing junkie. Have not played wild world in awhile...been playing city folk. I should spend more time with my ds. I bet it misses me. I miss the snow. I find the sun to be far more annoying. I like being cold and warming up. It beats being hot and trying to cool down.

i don't spend enough time with my 360 either. i try and keep myself super busy...less time to think about all the crap. i wish i could turn my brain off. my heart as well. life would be easier if i was an empty heartless moron.
and oyster is a great song. everything on dear you is amazing. if it could be 1995 again i would love to do it all over. perhaps better this time. because i obviously have played my cards all wrong.

I finally finished McCarthy's The Road yesterday morning, during my hours of downtime at work. The book isn't even 300 pages long and it still took me around a week to finish the thing because I had to put a down for a couple days because the doom and despair can be overwhelming, especially if you're given to those feelings anyway.
The end, though it...

i saw them when dear you came out. i still have that cassette i bought the day the album was released. the dude next to me at the show was rocking air guitar through the whole set. it was out of tune too
i think most people think i was talking about the movie. i have never even seen that movie. hunted down thorns of life on utube. i am in love all over again. i was in tears when jawbreaker broke up. held a grudge against jets to brazil, but am over it now. sometimes it is hard to move on. i am older now...so bring on the thorns of life please. and thanks for the info. it made my week. for real.
I just stayed an hour after work so I could attend a meeting with a representative from the Associated Press so she could teach us how to use a search engine. Seriously. How to use a search engine. The baby boomers in the room took notes. I couldn't figure out whether or not they were actually that dense or if they were just playing along...

I really should stop keeping my house like it's a frigging meatlocker. It makes sense in the summer, when it's hot and miserable outside, but it's damn annoying this time of year. Other than at night, when the cat stretches out up against me and acts as a heating blanket all night long.
Then again I hid under the covers and slept all day. I'd...
