Tonight, on my way home from work, I saw a cat laying in the middle of the street and thought of you - the nights I'd spend at your old apartment the next town over, where I'd sit in your big bay window while you slept with a Jack Russell Terrier the next room over, your cat in my arms. You know - the nights when one or both of us would keep each other company to keep the darkness at bay, whatever darkness it was at the time. Neighbors so quiet. A cat so soft and gentle. I don't miss the darkness, but I do miss those nights and that big, big window. Most of all I miss you. How are you tonight? I can't help but sometimes wonder.
