Woke up this morning to find the entire town covered in ice like Han Solo encased in Carbonite. The trees were pretty with their branches glistening in the streetlights, but getting to the office was an adventure and those low-hanging branches were keeping company in some spots with equally low-hanging powerlines. Cars were sliding on ice and hydroplaning in pockets of slushy soup that stood inches deep on streets.
And, of course, even more of the office was out today because of it. It's kind of sad when I come off as a dedicated employee. They suggested we work to beat our usual deadlines by an hour or more so the newspaper carriers would have more time for their deliveries, but I flat out told them they were dreaming with such a skeleton crew on hand. Deliveries aren't my department or concern anyway.
So now I'm stuck at home, more snow has been coming down and all I feel like doing is curling up with the cat and taking a long nap. Maybe some Fallout 3 as well, since I picked it up for another try last night and lost track of time while exploring and foraging in the nuclear wastelands around Washington, D.C. Finishing The Road, an obvious influence on the game, has given me a better appreciation of it now.
So sleep, a cat, video games and probably more episodes of The Simpsons. What a wonderful, stunted life.
