I'm so tired and out of it right now. And so sick of Christmas already. It's post-Thanksgiving which I know is the big holiday season and all that, but I remember a time when there was almost an unwritten, universal rule that the decorations, sales, shows and songs didn't start until the day after Thanksgiving. Now some people start it the day after Halloween. It gets old fast.
When I went to see Punisher: War Zone Saturday the mall was insane and choked with people. The theater, not surprisingly, was largely vacant. There was only around a dozen of us, all male and in the same relative age bracket with probably no more than a decade separating the whole lot of us. It makes sense with a character like Frank Castle.
The movie was by no means spectacular - I wasn't really expecting it since the character and his stories aren't really known for their depth - but I found it satisfying. Very violent, very graphic, very nihilistic. Well, very Punisher. Bits and pieces were lifted straight out of the Garth Ennis books. Definitely not a film for everyone, especially the squeamish.
I'll be braving the mall again tomorrow to pick The Dark Knight up on DVD. Beyond that all I've been doing is watching season four of The Simpsons. I've always consider myself more of a Futurama person, but I'll admit the town of Springfield is growing on me.
