First, some random observations:
--It is difficult to post comments and watch Jeopardy and do well at either.
--Puppies chewing on rawhide chew bones are cute unless they're in your lap getting ook all over you.
--I wish there was a Bird Whisperer like Cesar Milan. I'd really like to know what goes on in those teensy little cockatiel brains.

The best laid plans of mice and men and people facing the holidays just go right out the window when ya get sick, ever notice that? Started off the week just fine, got a ton of stuff done on Sunday, including work work and decorating and cleaning. Had a nice dinner out w/Schiavona on Monday to celebrate his first successful day on the new job. The first warning sign was when my sister got sick and stayed home from work on Tuesday but I studiously ignored this and worked long and hard on Tuesday, only to get sick on Wednesday.

I break from the plot line to make a philosophical observation--I used to kinda like sick days when I was little. I could stay home, sleep in, watch some game shows (my fave was Price is Right), take a nap, and then catch some dinner and watch more TV. Nowadays, I sleep and work. By evening, I sometimes give up and watch bad TV, but mostly I feel guilty that I'm not working. It sucks. frown

So, I recovered (mostly) by Thursday, but this morning (still feeling kinda crappy) I get a call from my lovely sibling (who obviously had a much worse version of this cold because she still hasn't gotten back to work) saying, "What do you do for vertigo attacks?" To which, I replied, "I dunno, go to the doctor?" Of course, one cannot drive when one is feeling dizzy and although "sporadic dizziness" is a better characterization of what she was feeling instead of "vertigo attacks", driving still wasn't a good idea. So, I spent the better portion of the day ferrying her around to various docs and going back to work to deal w/various crises.

Thus, I am facing a busy weekend--got a lot of work to catch up on and I'd *really* like to make some serious progress on the Christmas decorations. And if we don't glaze fire this weekend, there will be no sale.

So, enough about me, how about you? If you're still around after the long and boring post, what's your favorite nostalgic holiday thing? Tradition, decoration, whatever.

See - you live so far south, that you can't jet up for my party!

I'm having one of those mango mojitos though!

Yeah, they went in, stole her cranky appendix, gave her a prescription and told her it was her choice to stay or go home. My high school boyfriend was in the hospital for a week. I think his burst though.

Everyone's been sick lately. I hate sick days when I'm actually sick. I don't like staying in bed watching TLC marathons when I have stuff at home and at work that needs done. My volunteer's wife was having dizziness also, they couldn't figure out why, though I expect it has something to do with a sinus infection that was messing with her inner ear. Look at me playing doctor!

I need to get my ass in gear and finish my thank you cards / start my Christmas cards. Time flies!

I agree with the puppy rawhide gook too. Gross!

Awwww- I hope you are feeling better now. I totally understand where you are coming from when feeling guilty about being sick. Why should we though?? It is human nature - and in my case it was necessary not to be at the hospital spreading germs to already sick and injured patientsblush I am sure your co workers were thankful you didn't come to work when you were feeling icky too because you are also thinking about their well beingwink

In answer to your question about my guinea piggiessmile I only bought the one (Lucy) and got 2 little suprises a month and a half later. Lesson learned - always make sure that when you are buying a little girl piggy, that she comes out of a cage with other little girl piggieswink I had to give one of the babies away because 3 was just too many to look after but Mickey was the better choice to keep because he was a little slow when he was a baby. Probably cause he was the runt of the 2tongue

Hope you are having a Happy Hump Daybiggrin
