It's likely you guys haven't heard about the Occupy Wall Street movement that has been entrenched in the financial distract of lower Manhattan. Few mainstream news sources have reported about it at all, despite a couple thousand people showing up at once throughout the past week and HUNDREDS who have occupied Zuccotti Park, now deemed Liberty Plaza. The people occupying Wall Street are doing so in order to urge an immediate economic reform and the exposure of corporate greed and its illegal influence over our political process, which undermines democracy.
The following is a video of some of the police abuse that has unfolded over the last week. These girls were penned with orange netting while another protester was being arrested (must've been pretty rough if these girls were reacting so wildly), then all of them were maced by an unknown WHITE SHIRT cop.

The following petition asks Pres. Obama personally to make a press release on the events that have transpired, including police abuse.

You guys should really check out the coverage from Democracy Now about the Occupy Wall Street. I read that NYTimes article and was bummed that the movement seemed to be fading. But on Monday DN published the real story of the excessive abuse from the police. It really shed a light on what's happening down there. The NY Times article IMHO is really one side and weak in retrospect, and doesn't come close to what's happening down there. It's great that you are both paying attention to an important issue like this. No great change ever came from sitting around, and every great movement was at some point small. Corporate Greed needs to stop, this is step in the right direction.
