Well.. I broke my foot.
Not the whole thing, but the base of my little toe bone is broken almost all the way through.
Wednesday night, an hour before close, I get a 14-person table. No big deal, right? I need the money. I take one round of drinks out then go back to get the rest. I'm carrying five glasses of tea, hands full of course, and I trip on the cord from a fan, can't brace myself, and fall flat on the ground, spilling the five glasses. I get up, prepared to shake it off, feel an agonizing pain in my left foot, but continue on to refill the drinks. My sister goes ahead and gets the rest of the drinks for me and I go back to take their order, all fourteen of them, while gritting my teeth just so I can stand to be on my feet.
I limp back to the window, hang the tickets, and tell my sister to call in another girl because I can't walk.
I call my mom to pick me up and take me to the Urgent Care Center because I don't have insurance anymore. We show up to the one that I've already been to in town, tell them it happened at work, and end up having to leave to go to the other one because they want to call my boss (who happens to be my aunt) to set up worker's comp. I know for a fact that my aunt doesn't pay into worker's comp. insurance for the restaurant, and I know pursuing it will only cause trouble, so we go to the other Urgent Care place and they take me in, x-ray my foot, and show me on the screen that there is a clean break. I can't work after being gone for almost two weeks just four days ago. I have to wear a damn boot for SIX to EIGHT WEEKS.. Ugh. I can't wait tables in a boot. That's just pathetic.
Fortunately, if I can get this month taken care of and next month's rent out of the way, I'lll be getting my school money next month and will also be starting my workstudy job on campus next month. Hopefully, things will smooth out after that, but I'll still be starting school in a friggin boot.
Well, wish me luck.
Kirsten
P.S. I promise to post pictures of my apartment and newest tattoo soon!!!

Damn, that does suck... but it's at least a boot you can take off, right? (for showers, etc.)
