I think I might want to go into passive solar architecture at some point in my educational career. I'm really interested in the whole process of drawing up plans, buying some acreage, building a passive solar home, etc. It all seems really fascinating to me, I've recently found. I've found some simple plans that utilize passive solar techniques, but I think I would want to do something grandiose if I ever built one for myself, possibly even partially earth-sheltered, which I think would be amazing.

I'm making decent money now that I'm waiting tables. This Saturday, our busiest day of the week, I made a little over $100 in five hours. Not bad, if you ask me. I have about $300 saved up from this week, plus some odd bucks left over from my Saturday money that I've been spending throughout the weekend. I have $700 in my mother's savings account for when I move out of the dorms in May. At this rate, I'll be well on my way to being comfortable enough to start making big plans. I'd like to travel, get away at some point, in a year or two. I'd like to go alone, which my mother will have a fit over. I would, though. I'd like to go somewhere like Alaska or New Mexico even--somewhere natural and quiet. New Mexico, I know you're thinking, is pretty well-settled but there are still pockets of wilderness throughout the Southwest. Utah would be nice, too. Or Colorado. Maybe even somewhere in Canada, just outside a vibrant metro region. I dunno, just thoughts..

I would like to go to Amsterdam with my sister, though. We were there once together when I had just turned 13 and she had just turned 18, and we had gone on a tour with my middle school through EFTours. We weren't close then, and I wasn't mature enough to appreciate much, let alone Amsterdam. I'd like to travel with my sister at some point. It would be amazing! We get along so well now, are complementary of each other nowadays. I think we would have a fantastic time and would see some incredible things.

I think I will secretly make plans now to go on an extravagant (not money-wise, but culture- and aesthetic-wise) week-long trip with my sister, possibly next summer when I'm not in school. I'm going to start thinking up places we will go and things we will both want to see. I'm getting excited and hopeful already, just thinking about it, but I think I can manage to figure something out. If nothing else, we will at least take a road trip within the U.S., though the goal is Amsterdam and other parts of Europe.

I think I'm feeling a little manic today.
