I know you all must be on the edge of your seats waiting to hear what my tattoo idea for Saturday is.
It's pretty simple but it has at least three meanings, to my anyway.
I want to get the word 'KINGLESS' tattooed across my knuckles in red. Firstly, it means that I'm Atheist, as god is the king of heaven. Secondly, it refers to my feminism.
Thirdly, it is somewhat of a tribute to my being American. I'm not very nationalistic about today's America, but the ideals are what impress me about the U.S. Democracy, colonial revolt, etc., etc. These are themes I can appreciate in historical context.
I know no one in my family, nor any of my "friends" (except one, really), will like this tattoo, especially since I want it on my knuckles. My family will say "You'll never get a respectable job with a tattoo on your knuckles," to which I will reply: "That's the point." It's insurance against settling for an office job. I want to make it as difficult for myself as possible to be run-of-the-mill and domesticated. I dunno, it might be silly but it's just another I've overthought, probably.
I like the idea, I like the concept, and it will mean alot to me to have it on my skin. That's all that really matters to me.

Trollgrinder is right. Lots of companies in Austin hire people with knuckle tattoos for office jobs. How you look down here is not as important as how well you can perform the job. What kind of font will you choose for the letters?

Hellboy7 is also right about Austin. And I can't stress this more, Austin is the greatest f***ing town around. I miss it so much.
