Something I've been thinking about lately is how badly does Mitt Romney want to be president? And it is it really worth it to win? After the Supreme Court upheld the ACA, Romney had the privilege of denouncing the very same thing he did in Massachusetts, which went unnoticed by absolutely no one. And then, he got hammered by the Wall Street Journal editorial page because he didn't jump on "It's a tax!" talking point ;like he was supposed to. If Romney wins, he will be in the same position as John Boehner, he will have won the position he has coveted for so long but will be so powerless in that role that it'd be all but meaningless. No one in the Right Wing media sphere trusts Romney's sudden conversion to the new Republican talking points, so he'll spend most of his time in office doing what he's doing now: repeating whatever slogan the Tea Party wants to hear to stave off being cannibalized. If that's what he had the next four years to look forward to, I'd recommend he just give up for his own sake. Or throw the election by picking someone like Arlen Specter or Joe Lieberman has VP. Such a blatant "fuck you" to the faithful will probably be sufficient to have them all abandon him and declare him anathema for the rest of time. Honestly, I'd almost feel sorry for the political hell Romney would have to endure as president if he wasn't such a douche bag.
