I have opportunities here... I even have some options- but why is it that I'm moving?

Opportunity: If I do truly have opportunities at the job that I'm at they are far out. Do I really wanna stay doing what I'm doing now which is the same thing I've been doing for the past year and a half? EXACT same thing. I work at a relatively small place where all people in any sort of managerial position have either been with the company for 6+ years or have know the family that owns it for 15+ years. The only way I see me moving "up" is if someone leaves.... or dies. Yeah.

Money: My last job I worked for this same length of time I was making a full 35% more money. Was I working more? Sure. I have no problem with working, I need the bottom line. Recently my entire shop got a 15% pay cut and I hadn't gotten any sort of raise in the past 2 years anyway.

People/Stress: I don't have a problem with stress related to my work. What I DO have a problem with is stress related to people I work with. I only really have one pet peeve- that's stupid people. I know it's a terrible thing to identify people as stupid but it's not lack of intelligence that makes me not like working with someone- it's lack of desire to learn, lack of attention, and absence of wanting any improvement in their position. When I work very hard and go above and beyond simply because that's who I am and I'm forced to rely on people who, if you asked, would leave 2 hours into every single day (paid hourly) and if offered overtime every day they would always say no... My BEST weeks at work have been when certain individuals were on vacation.

Personal Life: Currently, I don't have one. I know a total of 4 people here and if you compiled the entirety of time we spend together in an average month you would occupy 4-6 evenings MAYBE.

Benefits of Moving
Opportunity: Haven't found a job yet. With the money savings of moving in with family allows me to potentially take a job that might make a little less money but has more room for growth and benefits and such.

Money: Cutting costs = More money in a sense...

People/Stress: Yes, there will always be stupid people but in many industries and in the positions of leadership I have a quick tendency to work myself those people don't generally keep jobs. *If you can't get the job done and someone else can, you go. It's called business. Sheesh!

Personal Life: I know people down in the Bay Area. I look forward to getting some sanity back.

My boss sat me down on Wednesday and talked to be about the notice of resignation I gave. He told me that he would normally come straight to the person and ask why they were leaving be he decided to feel me out instead and ask around and see what I've told people as far as why I'm leaving. He caught on some reason- the opportunity and the money.

It was a very flattering conversation with him telling me how he really doesn't want to lose me, of all people and he would very much like me to stay on. He says that he is going to write me a formal proposal with a money and a position offer on Monday and that he would like me to consider it. If I don't decide to stay on then he "would be the best reference I've ever had".

Well... we'll see eh?

Side note: I already put in my notice with my landlord but if I stayed and made more money then I'd NEED to move out of this room renting situation anyway. It's not bad but it's the doldrums for sure.

Anywho... thoughts? Anyone read the WHOLE thing?
