I'm generally a planner in most aspects of big things.
When I bought a car I checked out like 20 models, test drove like 10.
When I moved into my last apartment I checked out dozens of websites and floorplans to eliminate down to the 10 or 12 I toured through before picking the one I moved into.
I recently got rendered homeless for a few days when I found out Tuesday (the 2nd) at work that my roommate hadn't paid rent for MAY yet. Got totally blindsided by my "best friend" and we were forced to vacate the apartment by Wednesday (the 3rd) at 5:30pm. With limited to NO help I went and rented a truck and moved my entire life into it in half a day essentially. The next day I rented a storage room and BY MYSELF got the joy of emptying out that entired FULL TO THE MAX U-Haul truck into the unit.
This is a 5 foot by 10 foot by 8foot tall space.
I mention the HEIGHT of the space because it's filled to the ceiling in a good portion of it.
She got to move back with her parents (what she had planned to do anyhow) and I was S.O.L. and left to fend. I lucked out a little because the ONE PERSON I actually know and am friends with out here just moved the Friday prior from a rented room to an apartment so I got to stay on their couch for 3 nights (my back loves me for it).
Today I moved into a room on the far side of the next town over renting from a nice gay guy in his mid 50's. Don't know how long I'll be living here for but I paid first/last month and a small deposit so i guess I'll play it by ear for now.
If I can save the money I may be moving outta state sooner than planned. Good for me I think... maybe.
Maybe I'm just running away.
Maybe I really need to.
Portland, Oregon anyone?
