Greetings. Sounds like this guy has been digging the memory of you for a loooong time, how strange. I wonder how they take car e of th ehalf a kid? good question, about the song -- today, I'd go with "Heart of darkness" by Pere Ubu/ Rocket from the Crypt, esp. the chorus: "I get so tired it's like I'm another man/ and everything I see seems so underhanded/ I don't see anything that I want/ and I don't see anything that I want" Now that I write that it sounds so unexciting but you know how it is when you mix the words and the music it can be very different -- and it is, this song's 28 years old and still a total burner...

It is Saturday afternoon and I have not single plan...that's enough to make me smile right there. I think Josie & the Pussycats was better than House of Yes...but that's just me.

It's all just fate. The tricky part is figuring out what we're supposed to be doing, and where we go from here, because we do have a hand in determining it.

Why U2 and why so many shows? I like their music, and they're a great live band. Every show's unique - the setlist varies, they try different things, it blows me away every single time. And with their last tour they did a really cool thing for fans (aside from play in smaller venues when they could have filled out massive stadiums in every town) - they did a general admission floor and set up the stage so that if you were one of the lucky couple thousand to get floor seats, it was like being at a club show.

Polly Jean, on the other hand, happens to have the same management company (Principal Management). Over the years they'd both gotten to know each other, and I think they agreed that the timing worked out and this would help her reach a wider & different audience. Bless her heart for doing it, too, being an opening act has got to be rough - the venue's less than half full a lot of times and the majority of the audience reacts with indifference. But she gave her all anyways, and by the end of her set the place is a little more full and she's got most of them paying close attention.

PJ was so cute, too - aside from being wondrous and beautiful, she made a point of always dressing way over the top - turns out she was showcasing designer gear made by a friend of hers (how cool). And when a group of us who'd been in line all day took leftover cardboard/construction paper (from fans making signs for U2) and cut out big fish and little fish, then waved them over our heads during "Down By The Water" I thought she was going to break down and cry with happiness.

Uh oh. I don't know what the sobbing was in response to. I hope it wasn't something I said.

Good! You should have seen the Fed Ex charges, from here to there! MAN! I don't know about getting the day off, but if you got all gussied up I'm sure SOMETHING special would be arranged.

It sucks that it's raining there. For what it's worth it's raining on us as well. And there's a good chance I'm going to miss the Hot Water show tomorrow! uggh! I think I'm going to have to go see Daredevil to make up for it (although that's kind of a crappy consoloation prize, you know? A movie for a show? I think not!)

re my journal: punk rock bowling is an annual thing that byo records puts on every year in vegas. it's been around for 5 years now. it's a (not too serious) tournament for punk bands, labels, promoters, zines, record stores, etc., everyone related to that whole scene. i was on one of the epitaph records teams. there's usually some shows in and around vegas the weekend of the tournament too.
