I've been gritting my teeth trying not to think about it, and now the topic has come up in two separate phone conversations tonight. I'm borderline ragin'.



So I've got this paranoid delusional friend who's extremely bitter about this girl not digging him and he acts like everyone is conspiring to sabotage him. This has caused a serious rift in our friendship, culminating in his complete absense throughout my birthday weekend.

I've tried every approach I can think of in the past couple of weeks: being the sympathetic friend, letting him be alone with his thoughts, laughing at the whole thing, even delivering motivational verbal abuse ("Snap out of it, asshole!").

Nothing works. If our friendship means so little to him that he continues to be a complete bitch about every little fucking thing, then why should I even fucking bother?

One girl who you hardly know does not cause the sky to fall. The world does not solely revolve around your fucking petty "suffering". People get cancer and die. People lose their jobs and end up living in cardboard boxes. People get their penises cut off. People have real problems. You want to throw away a rare and genuine friendship because of this? Fuck you and your need for pity.

Usually when I ask for personal advice, I've already made up my mind and just want confirmation that I'm doing the right thing.

This time, nothing is registering on my radar. I'm out to sea on a bass boat without an outboard.

The trolling motor is missing as well.

And I'm too drunk to paddle.

You get the idea. I need advice like a needle needs a vein. Say man, you got anythin' for me?
