Yeah, the 'Merican flags kinda bugged me, too, but I can see the point from a PR perspective. The right-wingers are getting their panties in a bunch about people waving other flags, so to screw with them, everyone was waving the 'Merican flag along with their home country. I always have a visceral reaction to our flag, but having it displayed alongside the Mexican, Salvadoran, Haitian, Guatemalan, etc. flags shows what this country is really made of, i.e. people from all over. But I really hate flag waving of all kinds, being more of an internationalist myself. Nationalism of all kinds is distasteful. I give the people at the rally a pass because I read it more as a cultural statement than a nationalist one. I dunno, maybe I'm just rationalizing, but that was my sentiment at the time.
