Tonight at fire practice, I landed a new trick with my staff. I've always been a little afraid to try this one because it has a much much higher potential than most others for me to crack myself in the skull. But for some strange reason, having a mat on the floor (fire practice being at the dojo..) made it okay. It was basically to catch my staff so the staff didnt get hurt when I didnt catch it, but that gave me that little boost it took to try it out until i got it right.
Oddly enough, that was all I needed. And get this.. its a trick Mr March can't yet do. My goal is of course to still get better than him at fire staff, and I've got a lot of catching up to do.. but this little victory (though.. i'm in no way in competition with him) makes it seem possible. He's just automatically good at anything he touches, and I'm really.. really not. So its mostly a battle for my own self-esteem. Though of course now that I've recognized and voiced the fact that this battle is simply for a placebo effect... it wont work.
Self knowledge and exploration isnt everything its cracked up to be sometimes, you know?
I've been kind of addicted to watching West Wing lately. I usually have some kind of background addiction going on. Now it just happens to be west wing... again. I love Aaron Sorkin's writing, its just.. incredible, and its kind of hard to describe why its great, if I could I would post some great clips that are perfect examples of why its stupendous, but I cant. So I wont.
I realize now that the 26th.. the 'opening day' so to speak, of inconsistency.. just happens to be this sunday. I thought I had another week. I was wrong. I have to go learn flash now. I mean.. learn to make interactive things with flash. The animation part i can do.. I just don't think like a programmer.. so we'll see how that goes.
Oh yeah.. my gas skateboard for my flying carpet got stolen either today or last night. Lemme tell you that fuckin' sucks. The project that was of course closest to completion gets killed. And I wish I did, but I don't have the money to replace the damn thing. Sink near a thousand dollars into something and its various incarnations and versions.. and then this happens. That's what I get for having faith in humanity.
So fuck you.
