Saw MIRRORMASK tonight. I would definately recommend it to anyone who is thinking of going to see it. It wasn't as great as I had hoped it to be, but then again, with movies like that I am VERY hard to please.
I see seams in computer graphics and visual art like that more than most people I think. Its probably the training in electronic art I have, like I can see colors that most people can't pick up on (subtle variations just, no need to worry that there are purporanges or redellows you're missing). So a mostly computer generated backdrop and characters just has faults in it, at least esthetically to me.
But the story was good, not enough Juggling. I mean, c'mon, if you're going to make a movie about a girl who is in the circus for her juggling.. you gotta have more juggling.. though I did like that juggling saved the day!
So yes, it was gorgeous, and it was really really fun... but the next generation Labrynth that I'm sure Jim Henson company thought it would be? ... eh... no.
But see it, because it *was* great.
