Ok, so anyone who has talked to me since July knows that i am leaving for Costa Rica tomorrow for 12 days. Mixed feelings about it. On the one hand we will be staying in 5 different hotels that are on the beach, next to a volcano, or in the rain forest. Our activity list includes: surfing, snorkeling, repelling down waterfalls, going to a beach where green sea turtle babies are hatching out of the sand, tours of the rainforest and ziplines through the jungle canopy. This is pretty much just scraping the surface as far as activities while we are there are concerned, but ill save the rest for later when I get back and finish my point here.
Paranoid as hell for 2 reasons. On the lesser end, I will be the lone male traveling with 2 women, my sister and her friend, not really worried about my sister per se, I know she can take care of herself and hold her own. The part thats really got me nervous is this. Since shortly after booking the trip, I have been having reoccuring dreams where I am mountain biking down a jungle trail when suddenly the ground gives way, and I fall into a massive underground lava tube. Aside from the fact that we are taking a mountain bike volcano tour, as I said in the above paragraph, one of the hotels is near a volcano. The part I did not know is the hotel is LITERALLY at the base of the volcano. Just found that out 2 days ago. Found reviews of the hotel online, where one woman had this to say ... "Overall Silencio del Campo was wonderful, our villa was beautiful. The only thing was the volcano had daily and nightly explosions, which I found very unnerving ..."
Paranoid or over reacting? Regardless I love all you guys, leave me some love and with a little luck I wont also die from the fantasy island planes we are taking, or get bit by one of the poisonous snakes, spiders, millipedes, or other creatures that can put a world of hurt on my ass. Back on the 17th!
Here are 2 pictures of the hotel with the volcano in the background ...
