So...yeah...C.O. I is absolutely an out there job. Went in for my first day on Sunday, got assigned to the fifth floor of CJC (City Justice Center) which is "the hole". Now, for those of you not familiar or fond of prison drama, "the hole" is where they send the nasty bastards who don't play well with others. So, that's where we go and it's shower day so we're escorting inmates to bathe themselves. My training officer "Big A" is roughly 6'6" and probably 300-350 lbs. I notice early on he's without badge, name tag, or ID card, but assume, since he's such a big son of a bitch nobody complains. So some fight break out and as he's such an imposing fella he's on the response team. He comes back post a fight, claiming he's lost his badge, which he hasn't had all night, which results in a shakedown. So...your humble narrator ends up strip searching at least twenty men, to find a badge that wasn't there in the first place. My first night on the job was eventful, I found some shanks searching cells after the strip searches and my fondest associate from the academy did well too. I had the benefit of two days off following my first day, so I've got a for real work week starting tomorrow and we'll see how it goes, if nothing else this line of work affords me with better stories than most folks you meet. I mean, how many people you know are threatened with the nastiest of violence on their first day at a new job?
