Scattered all over the sidewalk in front of my office building this morning were thousands (I shit you not) of worms...so many that I had to delicately tiptoe around them so as not to end up with worm guts embedded in my shoes. These poor miserable creatures had seemingly been washed up from the bottoms of the earth after last night's endless downpour only to have their carcasses pounded to death on the sidewalk with no comforting dirt to retreat within.
It got me thinking...it would rather suck to be a worm.
On another note, the Supreme Master of mp3 mixes Mr.
coldenginelogic, has bestowed upon me another of his magical compilations complete with The Cars, Duran Duran, Red House Painters, Ween, Belle and Sebastian and a plethora of circa 80's damned fine shit for me to while away my work hours to. There is something about certain songs from that time period - The Cars stuff for instance which I listened to on the drive to school every morning for at least a year - that takes me back in a simple flash to being 16 years old. I mean I am THERE in that instant. I am worried about my hair and my lip gloss and my Civics test and that group of girls who would be waiting for me in front of the school, whose company I despised but felt inclined to endure in an effort to maintain some sort of clique honor system.
So THAT got me thinking...it would rather suck to be 16.
Which is worse? Being a worm or being a 16-year-old girl?

I would think worms, just based on the worm-to-girl ratio of being impaled on a hook and fed to a fish, have it worse.
...but would it be worse to be Hillary Duff, or to be an adult who had to listen to or see Hillary Duff?
