I was thinking about the birth of my daughter at the point of the 16th hour or so of labor (I was in labor for 21 hours total) with still no epidural in sight and sheer exhaustion setting in. I was living in Oregon at the time so all of my family and network were back here on the East Coast other than my mother's oldest and dearest friend who happens to be a midwife. She took the reigns at this point and kicked everyone out of my room and took me through this sort of meditation process in an effort to ease the pain I was in. She told me "Stop fighting against the contractions, when they come go deep inside your body and find them, then ride with them...ride the waves out...stop trying to tackle them..." She coerced me into one of the most spiritual states of mind I have ever experienced and literally pulled me inside my own body - wherein upon her advice - I found myself literally riding high on waves of contractions - peacefully. It was wild - and amazing - and it wasn't tearing me into pieces anymore. So - the point being - I find that life is kind of like that.
Some days we just have to ride along with the contractions when fighting against them only makes them worse.
The Tao of June has been spoken.

While I do like a lot of his work, the main thing is that he was never afraid to speak the truth. No matter how influenced and psychotic his truth was. Fact is that I do not agree with most of his politics, but the world is a slightly more boring place without him. He was in a word prolific.
