We were talking about how the music festivals used to be the SUPREME MOST AMAZING SHOW EVER TO GO TO when we were youthful. Pre kids. Pre responsibility. Pre rent. Pre bills. And how, reading the lineup forBOONAROO just didn't speak to me.
For one (and I apologize because I know this will offend) I am not all that jazzed about going South of the Mason Dixon Line for ANY reason. I was raised on the East Coast and called a "Yankee" on regular occasion well out of the 1800's (stoopz).
I am not a big lover of the South. I spent many years unveiling the prejudice towards anyone not white and male and christian god dammit. "Deliverance" aside, so many of the ideals and dogma reek of old world ignorance and power mongrels.
I don't even like the South of Colorado.
For the record.
Texas?
OUT.
More than being unencumbered by my southern discordance; however, is my age.
I cannot fathom being at a three day show of any sort these days. Not to mention. 5 out of 60+ bands, are the only ones I would even pay to see.
And not that much.
To camp.
In fucking Tennessee.
Again, I apologize if I have offended you in this rant.
("for instance if you are like, from, Tennessee, and all" she said twirling her hair and popping her bubble gum)

Hey!

Actually, I can empathize. There is much in Southern "culture" to loath and detest. There are a few bright spots - - mainly culinary & that certain "laid back" relaxed pace to life - - but in general, aye, it's pretty shameful. However, I could say the same for many parts of this country. There are plenty of rednecks all across this land. Shame, it's not just for Southerners anymore.

I also agree as to the music festival scene. It ain't what it used to be. There are exceptions of course, but whenever you get stadium/arena bands together, it's just a huge outdoor arena show, *ugh*
