I do all of my best thinking in the shower. Sort of like how I do all of my reading in...oh never mind. Anyway, I do my best devising of entire game plans, weighing out of corporate facts, daydreaming, fantasizing and compromising all within the 20 minutes it takes me to wash rinse and repeat. This morning, I wrote a song, entirely in my head, and it was good too...it was dark and heavy and different and clever. And I completely forgot that I even wrote it the minute I stepped out of the shower doors and back into the reality that is children yelling and buses coming and breakfast needing making and dogs needing feeding. In fact, I didn't even remember the event had occurred until later this afternoon when a song I was listening to had something like what I had devised in my head 12 hours before, and I was like, "Hey! Wait a minute. I wrote a god damned song this morning. In it's entirety. In my head. Every single instrument, chorus, harmony, solo part fer fooks sake. And promptly forgot everything but the chorus." Hey, I'm proud of the fact that I remembered anything that occurred more than half an hour ago. If I weren't so addled I might actually do something about it.

I do my "best" thinking while running - - because I hate it and have nothing else to do - - but I rarely remember those thoughts either. (Maybe because I take a shower soon after . . . ?)
