This past Friday night my brothers came over to check out coldenginelogic's latest batch of home brew - this being his own special honey brew recipe. They drank the sweet nectar with glee (it is really damned good if I do say so myself but I cannot drink the beer these days - must be my age - i was enjoying a nice, light pinot grigio) . The girl was at her dad's, the baby prince fast asleep in 9-month dreamland. We talked about the radio show coldenginelogic and I want to develop via podcast and how they could play into it. We listened to an indescribable mp3 mix and we then proceeded to pass around Italo Calvino's
and randomly land upon a passage we had to read aloud. It was incredible. Each one of us landed upon such apropos passages for our varied personas. We did this for most of the night. It was fucking rad. The raddest. I cannot imagine three other people in this world that I could stand around my kitchen drinking home brews with while smoking cigarettes, listening to Rev Run and reading Calvino. My brother Jackson said he looked around the room at one point and thought, "Man, I am so effing glad these people are my family." Fucking Dead Poet's Society my ass.
This is my favorite city thus far in all of these invisible cities:
"And so Esmerelda's inhabitants are spared the boredom of following the same streets every day. And that is not all: the network of routes is not arranged on one level, but follows instead an up-and-down course of steps, landings, cambered bridges, hanging streets. Combining segments of the various routes, elevated or on ground level, each inhabitant can enjoy every day the pleasure of a new itinerary to reach the same places. The most fixed and calm lives in Esmerelda are spent without any repetition."

binkymcqueen:
Murphys mind pictured itself as a large hollow sphere, hermetically closed to the universe without. This was not an impoverishment, for it excluded nothing that it did not itself contain. Nothing ever had been, was or would be in the universe outside it but was already present as virtual, or actual, or virtual rising into actual, or actual falling into virtual, in the universe inside it.
